Where Were You When You Had Your LAST Best Idea?

When you're inspired, to create something, to implement something, to blog something--where were you?

  • Driving?
  • Day dreamin?
  • Talking with someone?
  • In your office?  Home or business?
  • Walking on the treadmill?
  • Riding your bike?
  • Skiing down a mountain?
  • Having a beer with a friend?

I've been trying to figure out where I am, and what am I doing when I have good ideas; and I'm asking my colleagues the same question.  Can you intentionally go somewhere to think?  And if so, where would it be?

One of my friends says he gets his best ideas when he's driving, and he drives a lot, so I can understand this.

Another friend gets their best ideas when they're sitting in their car, overlooking the city, intentionally thinking.

I think my best ideas come when I'm talking to people, I almost blurt them out-loud during a visit!  My last best idea was to travel to Greece with some of my friends in a couple of years (now I understand that their in a little financial trouble).  We just happened to be in a book store in the travel section, I thought about the Mama Mia movie and how much fun it would be to go goof around on an island in Greece.  By the way, if any one knows the best inexpensive comfortable place to go, let me know.

I think my best ideas happen shortly after I awake in the morning!

Wanda - I wish I could have a specific great idea time, but I can't. Sometimes in bed (I keep a pen and pad handy), sometimes while strolling in nature (always carry a pen and 3X5 card), and sometimes when driving.  But what I've discovered is that I must immediately write them down or they may disappear forever.

MaryBeth,  I love the mornings, it's a great time, especially when I make it to the coffee shop.

John, I'm with you on immediately writing them down.  You would think that good ideas would just stay in the front part of consciousness, but I really hate to miss them if they disappear.

Wanda ~ My best ideas often come to me in my dreams.  But the shower works too!
