Would Someone Please Come and Get Your Goats?

Having enjoyed Karen Anne's post about "What Do You Do When Someone Get's Your Goat" my ears just perked up when a video appeared on the local news channel KULR 8 in Billings Montana tonight about 2 goats that had stranded themselves on a railroad trestle, high above the highway.

North of Billings in the Bull Mountains is the new Signal Peak Mine, which is a brand new high grade coal mine.  A new railroad was built to transport the coal from the mine to the nearest railroad junction.

2 Goats found themselves stranded high, and I do mean high, above the highway for 2 days.  The Billings Gazette provided some pictures on their website of the goats and their rescue operation.

I don't have permission to copy the pictures, but if you link to them I think you will be impressed with the predicament the goats were in.

The Rimrock Humane Society out of Roundup Montana organized the rescue operation, which was accomplished with a really long reach bucket truck.  Both of the goats had collars, and the rescuers are waiting to see who claims them.

So would the owner of these rascal goats please come and get them, I think they want to go home.

Country Living In The Bull Mountains of Montana

The Bull Mountains are located about 30 miles North of Billings Montana in Musselshell County.

The dream of living the country lifestyle at an affordable price happens here in this part of Montana.  An established home on more than 5 acres starts at about $175,000 and up.  Log homes are more prevalent in this setting, they just look good surrounded by all of the deer, turkeys and on occasion, big elk!

  • Ponderosa Pines
  • Grass meadows
  • State Land
  • BLM Land
  • Ranches, big and small
  • Small Acreage tracts
  • Wells in many areas for domestic use
  • Lots of coal mining history
  • Signal Peak Coal Mine

Takin the high road

Yippee! I got to do my favorite thing in Real Estate today!  Take my small SUV up a slippery muddy road in the mountains to find a little piece of Montana Heaven.Muddy Realtor Car

Headed up to the Bull Mountains for a showing.  Just off the highway the gravel/dirt road turns a bit muddy, notice the car.  Not to worry, I once drove a racing jeep in a mud bog obstacle course and took second place, this was easy!  Next came a flock of wild turkeys, I think there were about 50 or so, I'm not good at counting when I'm driving.  Got a little snow in my boots and mud on my floormats, but they'll wash.
