I just got done plugging in names, dates and other contract lingo into a buy/sell I need to get signed tonight.
So what's the next step?
I put the contracts right in the front passenger seat of my car. Why? Because if I don't do that right now, I risk getting all the way to my appointment and having my documents sitting on my desk, at home!
Oh it's great to do my work ahead of time, when I'm thinking clearly and without interruption (just better outcomes for my clients), however, all of that good preparation doesn't help me one iota if I forget "the work" in a different geographical location from where I need to present "the work".
This is a system! One of the many systems I've developed to overcome moments when I get in a hurry and get distracted, and it's easy for me to get distracted:
- phone rings and it's my daughter wants to chat about something (she's in another town and doesn't call much so I answer if I can)
- the neighbor's boy runs over my mailbox and lands his car in the ditch also taking out some horse fence
- my dog get's wind of a jack rabbit, and the race is on!

I think we develop systems when the pain of not having a system is detrimental to our business and home life.
How many times have you run off to Costco and left your list at home? Very costly and painful mistake!
